There are creators, there are influencers, and then there is Vishnu Kaushal. There's something raw, real and instantly relatable about his videos; the authenticity truly shines through. In a world where hustle culture dominates, Vishnu stands out by minding his own lane, competing only with himself, and focusing on growth at his own pace.
From creating a movement with his viral “Bhaisaab” reel to building the 'Better Watch Kaushals' YouTube channel with his brothers, Vishnu has consistently made content that feels like a family member talking to you — honest, warm and familiar. With every conversation, you're bound to fall a little more in love with him.
Read this exclusive conversation on Whosthat360, where Vishnu talks about what inspired Bhaisaab, choosing not to join the rat race, and much more.
When did you first realize ‘Bhaisaab' had become a whole mood on the internet? Was there a single reel or comment that made you go, ‘ok this is bigger than I thought'?
It all happened really fast. Just a few days after we posted, people started tagging us in their own “Bhaisaab” moments. We started receiving tags from people not only from India but from farthest corners in the world: a family from Himachal, someone outside Big Ben in London, students from college campuses, and some even with their grandparents and toddlers at home. In no time this moment became a shared language, and their reactions, the love just blew our minds. That was the moment when we realized that this isn't just a fun piece of content, this is a mood/mindset, an expression that people can relate with and are carrying with them everywhere. It suddenly became way bigger than anything else we had made before.
People copy the style, the tone, even the expressions, but how did you come up with it? Was it inspired by someone you know in real life?
Both Govind and I are products of what we grew up watching. For us, comedy legends like Jaswinder Bhalla and BN Sharma were our textbooks. We learned timing, body language, delivery, and how to stretch a joke beyond words from them. Then, when YouTube came along, creators like Jus Reign opened an entirely new world for us - comedy that was modern, cultural, and relatable all at once. Add to that the fact that we come from a loud, fun Punjabi family, where everyone is a character and that's all one needs, you don't need to look too far out for inspiration. It had a live comedy workshop happening in our living room every single day.
People often say, ‘ye toh apna hi banda lagta hai' when they watch your videos. Because you're one of the few creators who've stayed consistently real and relatable, without getting caught up in the glam and rat-race vibe. Was that something you decided early on or is it just naturally who you are?
That's a beautiful compliment, thank you. For both Govind and I, it was never a strategy. The only goal was to make our and our parents' lives better. Creating content was something we enjoyed doing, and when it started contributing in ways which led us to support our family, it became the icing on the cake. That combination gave us perspective - we didn't feel the need to outshine anyone else or join the rat race to feel validated. When you are in this business and are privy to numbers, understand trends, it is natural for the comparison bug to bite – but gratitude for what this journey has given us always outweighs those thoughts. It grounds us and reminds us why we started in the first place.
Three brothers, ten years, and finally a YouTube channel (Better Watch Kaushals) — why did it take this long, and what made you say woohoo let's do it now?
It has been a journey. The funny thing is that we have always wanted to do it, but life just kept happening. Only recently have we started slowing down and appreciating that we're actually living the life we once dreamed about as kids. That's when it felt right to finally start vlogging. It wasn't about chasing numbers or going viral. It was more like let's just share these moments as if we are living them with our friends, family etc. When the initial reactions started coming in from our first few vlogs, it gave us immense happiness, and this continues to be the reason we do what we do.
Creating with siblings can be fun but also chaotic, what's one funniest fight you've had while shooting together?
Oh, there are plenty. The thing is, Govind and I are wired differently. He brings in spontaneity and playfulness, while I like to prepare, plan, and structure things. At times, our unique styles of working resulted in a clash. We tackled it by taking a break but within five minutes we started laughing at how trivial the argument was. That's the beauty of being siblings - you clash, you make up, and at the end of the day there's no one else you would rather be creating with.
With so many creators out there, how do you keep your content fresh without losing the Vishnu Kaushal-ness of it?
For me, the key has always been to chase ideas that are a mix of exciting, and scary. If I try to force an idea, I usually end up doing something I have already done before because I know it works. But when I give myself the space to experiment even if the idea feels imperfect that's what leads to breakthrough/disruptive content. Creativity needs room to breathe and as long as I am making things from a place of curiosity and fun, the “Vishnu-ness” of it stays intact.
If ‘Bhaisaab' had to give one life advice to your fans reading right now, what would it be?
Bhaisaab would say: “Bohta socheya na karo. Overthinking kar ke sirf dimaag kharab hunda hai. Ja, park ch chakkar la ke aa.” In simple words — don't get stuck in your own head. Go outside, take a walk, breathe. Life gets lighter when you do.
What would you tell upcoming creators who feel stuck in the race of views, followers, and trends?
I would say, don't look at making videos only as a means to an end. It is not just about views or followers; it's about using this tool to find your own voice. When you finally tap into that voice, that unique perspective, that's when magic happens. When you create from a place of honesty and joy, the views and followers will eventually come. They are a by-product, not the goal. Focus on the craft, on having fun, and everything else will follow in time.
