Rice Fara, a culinary gem, shines not just during the Paryushan period but any time you crave simplicity and deliciousness. It's a dish that transcends dietary preferences, so you don't have to be Jain to enjoy it. Paryushan, for the uninitiated, is a time when greens are off the menu. However, feel free to add green chili and coriander if it suits your palate.
Easy-to-follow Recipe:
The recipe is as straightforward as it gets. Start with a cup of cooked rice, add half a cup of rice flour, a teaspoon of cumin seeds, and a pinch of salt. Bind it all together with some water to form a dough. Now comes the fun part - shaping the fara. Get creative and make them in any shape you fancy, just keep them small.
To elevate your Rice Fara, prepare a tantalizing tadka. Heat some oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida, white sesame seeds, and red chili powder. Let the spices sizzle for a couple of minutes. Then, pour in half a cup of water and let it come to a boil. That's your cooking base. Carefully place your fara in the boiling water and let them cook until they're done and the liquid has evaporated.
