Try Tandoori Apples, sweet, spicy, smoky, and full of mouthwatering flavor! Made just using the South African Royal Gala apples, best known for their natural sweetness, vibrant color, and a juicy crunch, fully grown in the sun-kissed valleys of the Western Cape.
These apples aren't just delicious, but they're versatile too.
Here's how to turn them into a perfect guilt-free and flavor-packed snack:
Ingredients:
Just 2–3 of South African Royal Gala Apples
For the marinade:
- 1 tbsp of butter (melted)
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- ½ tsp of jeera (cumin) powder
- ¼ tsp of black pepper powder
- ½ tsp of cinnamon powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- A pinch of sugar
- Salt and black salt to taste
For the topping:
- A little sprinkle of chaat masala
- A small dash of lime juice
- Fresh coriander, finely chopped
Method:
- Slice the apples into some thick wedges. Keep the peel for the extra fiber!
- Mix the marinade ingredients well.
- Coat the apple slices evenly. Let them sit for about 10 minutes, not more than that, to maintain their crisp texture well.
- Sear on the high heat (grill pan or tandoor) until it's slightly charred and well-caramelized. This brings out the smoky tandoori flavor.
- Top it with chaat masala, lime juice, and some fresh coriander before serving.
