During the Monsoons, sweat and oil secretions increase. Oily and sweaty skin attracts more dirt and chemical pollutants, leading to pimples, acne, rash and other problems. Skin fresheners play a crucial role during the Monsoons, as they help to refresh and cool the skin, restore the normal balance, keep pores unclogged and bring back a glow to the skin. Rose water, cucumber, khus, green tea, lemon and mint are some ingredients that help refresh skin tone.

Rose Water

Rose Water is one of the best skin tonics. It can also be mixed with cucumber juice or lemon juice and applied to reduce oiliness and tone the skin. Rose is a natural coolant. To refresh the skin, use chilled rose water daily. Keep rose water in a bowl in the fridge and soak cotton wool pads in it. Use them to wipe the skin.

Cucumber

Cucumber has several beauty benefits, especially during hot and humid weather. It contains many nutrients, like Vitamin C, which brightens the skin. Cucumber is also a natural coolant and helps to soothe the skin. It soothes skin irritation and inflammation and may be used for acne-prone skin. Apart from toning and refreshing the skin, it closes the pores and reduces oiliness. It also helps to remove tan and lighten skin colour over a period of time. Grated or cucumber juice may be applied daily on the face and skin around the eyes, washing off with plain water after 15 minutes. Cucumber slices can be rubbed on the skin to cool and refresh.

Mint Leaves

Mint leaves also cool and freshen the skin. Crush mint leaves and add them to water. Let it stand for an hour. Strain and apply on the face with cotton wool. It is cool and refreshing. Mint water has antiseptic and healing properties. Mint has anti-inflammatory properties, too and helps to control acne conditions.

Green Tea

Green tea has several beauty benefits and can be used easily as a home beauty treatment. You can dip a green tea bag in a cup of hot water. Cool and use it to tone the skin. You can even mix the liquid with face packs.

Moringa

Moringa (Sajan) is another ingredient that has become popular. Both moringa powder and oil may be used in skincare. Being very high in Vitamin C, Moringa can boost the skin's health by helping the production of collagen, an important supportive tissue of the skin. It keeps the skin firm and youthful. The best part is that Moringa suits all skin types.

Neem

Neem is used as a home remedy for skin and hair care, not only to prevent problems but also to soothe and cure. Neem contains organic sulphur compounds, which benefit both skin and hair. It is used to heal pimples, acne or rash. Take a handful of neem leaves and simmer in 5 cups of water over a very low fire. Leave overnight. Next morning, strain and wash your face with water. Apply the paste of neem leaves on pimples, acne or rash.
