Moong Dal Palak Dhokla: A Healthy Delight

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Chilka Moong Dal (split green gram)
  • 1/4 cup Rice (soaked for 3-4 hours)
  • 1 bunch Spinach (blanched)
  • Green Chillies (as per taste)
  • Small Ginger Knob
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 1 small packet of Fruit Salt (Eno)
  • Red Chilli Powder (for garnishing)
  • Oil (for tadka)
  • Mustard Seeds, Hing (asafoetida), Curry Leaves, Safed Til (white sesame seeds) (for tadka)
  • Grated Coconut (for garnishing)

Method To Prepare Moong dal Palak Dhokla:

  • In a mixer jar, add soaked moong dal, rice, blanched spinach, green chillies, ginger knob, coriander leaves, and a little water. Grind to a smooth batter.
  • Add salt to taste and mix well.
  • Grease a plate and keep a steamer ready. Preheat the steamer.
  • Add fruit salt (Eno) to the batter and mix gently.
  • Pour the batter into the greased plate and sprinkle red chilli powder on top.
  • Place the plate in the preheated steamer, cover the lid with a cloth, and steam the dhokla for 20 minutes on high heat.
  • Prepare the tadka by heating oil in a pan, adding mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, and safed til. Let it crackle.
  • Cut the steamed dhokla into squares and pour the tadka over it.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  • Serve the scrumptious Moong Dal Palak Dhokla with your favourite chutney.
