Many people focus on preparing for a Puja and performing the rituals correctly, but according to astro-influencer Bhavesh Bhimanathani, the concluding moments of worship hold special spiritual significance. Known as Uttara Puja, this final stage is an opportunity to express gratitude, surrender, and devotion before bringing the ritual to a close.

Bhavesh explains that the essence of any Puja lies not in perfection but in Bhav, the sincerity of one's emotions and intentions. Through a few simple yet meaningful steps, devotees can conclude their worship with mindfulness and reverence.

Naivedyam: Offering Food With Gratitude

The first step of Uttara Puja is Naivedyam, where food and water are offered to the deity. In the demonstrated worship, offerings are made to Maa Kali, though devotees can substitute the mantra with that of their chosen Ishta Devata.

After presenting the food, practitioners chant sacred mantras and perform the Pancha Vayu Mudras. Bhavesh highlights that this step is about more than a ritual offering. It is also a moment to pray for the well-being of all beings and wish that everyone receives nourishment, food, and prosperity.

Aarti: Illuminating The Divine Presence

The next step is the Aarti, performed by lighting camphor and offering the flame before the deity while ringing a bell.

Bhavesh shares that devotees may chant traditional mantras during this process or simply remember their chosen deity with heartfelt devotion. The flame is traditionally moved around the feet, navel, face, and entire form of the deity in a specific sequence.

Once completed, the blessed flame is offered to everyone present. Devotees then place their hands over the flame and gently touch their eyes or forehead as a sign of reverence and respect.

Seeking Forgiveness Through Kshama Prarthana

No worship is considered complete without humility. During Kshama Prarthana, devotees fold their hands and seek forgiveness for any mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly during the Puja.

According to Bhavesh, this prayer reminds worshippers that spiritual practice is not about flawless execution but about sincere devotion and self-awareness.

The Power Of A Simple Namaskar

The final step is Namaskar, accompanied by the chant "Om Shantih Shantih Shantih." With folded hands and a peaceful heart, devotees offer their final pranams to the Divine.
