  • Platforms get 36-hour deadline to remove content
  • Case highlights rising online scams and misuse

In a strong step against digital misuse, the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to famous youtuber and actor Bhuvan Bam, directing platforms to restrict deepfake content and any unauthorised use of his identity.

Court Acts Against Misleading Content and Deepfakes

The order, passed on 28 April 2026 by Justice Jyoti Singh, comes after rising cases of misinformation using Bam's image, voice, and characters from BB Ki Vines. These included fake ads, Telegram promotions, and betting-related content. Reports suggest that such content was spreading quickly across social media, misleading users, and creating confusion among viewers.

The Court noted that there is clear initial evidence and warned that such content could cause serious harm not only to Bam but also to the public. It passed an ex parte ad interim order to stop unknown individuals from creating and sharing such material.

Platforms Given 36 Hours to Remove Content

As per the directions, major platforms like Google LLC, Meta Platforms Inc., Flipkart, and Spotify India must remove identified URLs within 36 hours. This strict timeline highlights the urgency of controlling harmful content online and preventing further misuse.

Focus on Public Safety Over Fair Use Debate

While concerns about parody and fair use were raised, the Court said these will be reviewed later. For now, the focus remains on stopping misuse and protecting public interest.

This case highlights growing risks of deep-fake content and online scams. Bam's legal action shows that the issue is not just about personal rights but also about protecting users from misleading digital content. It also sends a strong message about accountability in the digital space.

At the same time, Bam is expanding his career with upcoming projects like Kuku Ki Kundali under Dharma Productions, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, and the series The Revolutionaries on Amazon Prime Video.

With this move, Bhuvan Bam takes a strong stand for digital safety while continuing his growing journey in entertainment.
