Festive desserts and healthy eating rarely go hand in hand. Most traditional sweets are loaded with sugar, ghee, and calories, making them difficult to fit into a balanced diet. But what if you could enjoy the rich flavours of Shahi Tukda without compromising your fitness goals? Diet and lifestyle coach Simran Kaur recently shared a healthier version of the classic dessert that is high in protein, contains no added sugar, and still delivers festive indulgence.

Healthy Twist To A Royal Favourite:

Traditionally, Shahi Tukda is prepared using deep-fried bread soaked in sugar syrup and topped with rich rabri. While delicious, it can be calorie-dense. Simran Kaur's version replaces several high-calorie ingredients with nutrient-rich alternatives, creating a lighter dessert that's suitable for those watching their weight or trying to increase protein intake.

The recipe uses multigrain or sourdough bread, low-fat paneer, low-fat milk, saffron-infused milk, and a zero-calorie sweetener. Chopped pistachios add crunch and flavour, while elaichi powder gives the dessert its traditional aroma.

How To Make It:

To prepare the dessert, start by cutting two bread slices into halves and air-frying them for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp. In a blender, combine low-fat paneer, milk, kesar milk, elaichi powder, zero-calorie sweetener, and Greek yogurt. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Spread the prepared paneer-kesar mixture generously over the toasted bread pieces and finish with a sprinkle of chopped pistachios. Serve chilled for the best taste and texture.

Packed With Protein And Flavour:

One of the biggest advantages of this healthier Shahi Tukda is its nutritional profile. The complete recipe provides approximately 300 to 330 calories, 18 to 21 grams of protein, 35 to 40 grams of carbohydrates, and 9 to 11 grams of fat.

Per serving, it offers around 150 to 165 calories and up to 10.5 grams of protein, making it a more balanced option than many traditional sweets.

Smart Tip For Weight Watchers:

Simran Kaur recommends adding Greek yogurt for a creamier texture and an extra protein boost. She also advises keeping pistachio portions measured, especially for those on a weight-loss journey, as nuts can increase the calorie count quickly.

If you're looking for a festive treat that satisfies sweet cravings while supporting your fitness goals, this no-sugar Kesar Shahi Tukda could be worth trying. It delivers the richness of a celebration dessert with a healthier nutritional profile.
