It is prepared with jowar flour, besan, lauki (bottle gourd), and spices. This flatbread aids in weight loss, maintains strong bones, and assists in regulating blood sugar levels.
Health Benefits of Lauki and Jowar
Jowar (sorghum) is full of iron, protein, vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients. It is great for overall health. Lauki is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is good for digestion, weight management, heart health, and liver care. Plus, the dish is gluten-free and uses very little oil.
Ingredients Needed for Lauki Jowar Thalipith
- 150 gm lauki (bottle gourd), shredded
- 2-3 green chillies
- A small piece of ginger
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- A big bunch of coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp carrom seeds (ajwain)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- 2 tsp white sesame seeds (safed til)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 cup jowar flour (sorghum flour)
- 1/4 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/4 cup chawal ka atta (rice flour)
- 3-4 tbsp curd
- Water, as needed
- Few drops of oil for cooking
How to Make Lauki Jowar Thalipith – Step-by-Step
- Shred the lauki and keep it aside.
- Pound green chillies, ginger, and garlic. Add this to the lauki.
- Add chopped coriander, ajwain, jeera, sesame seeds, and salt.
- Mix in jowar flour, besan, and rice flour.
- Add curd and mix to make a soft dough. Use water if needed.
- Brush a few drops of oil on a hot pan.
- Wet your hands and take some dough. Flatten it on the pan.
- Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and cook both sides well.
How to Enjoy Lauki Jowar Thalipith
Serve your hot and healthy thalipith with curd, chutney, or pickle. It's a perfect dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
