Hare Chane ka Nimona is a traditional and flavorful dish coming from the heartland of Uttar Pradesh, India. This delightful dish features green chickpeas. Preparation of Hare Chane ka Nimona

Ingredients:

  • 250gm shelled hara chana
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 50gm moong dal wadi

For paste:

  • 2-piece ginger
  • 6-7 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 2-3 red chillies
  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 50gm green chillies
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 2 black cardamoms
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp pepper corn

For gravy:

  • 2 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • a pinch asafetida
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 20gm coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 50ml mustard oil
  • 1 tbsp pure ghee

Method:

  • Finely grind the ingredients mentioned for the paste and finely slice the onions.
  • Take some moongodi and fry it properly till golden and put it in the bowl.
  • Cut potatoes into cube shape and fry it in mustard oil and keep aside.
  • To the same oil - add some asafoetida, bay leaves, cumin seeds and cook them for a few seconds.
  • Add the spice crushed chana and cook till the oil separates.
  • Add the spice paste and sauté till the moisture evaporates and the chana starts sticking to the base of the pan.
  • Add the onion paste and cook for 7-8 minutes.
  • Now add moongodis, potatoes with 2 cups of water.
  • Cover and cook till the moongodis are soft and oil appears on the surface.
  • At last, heat the desi ghee and add into the dish.
