Viral Mahakumbh Sensation Monalisa Bags Malayalam Film; Here's What We Know So Far

Social media sensation Monalisa Bhosle, who made the headlines during this year's Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, is set to enter the Malayalam film industry. Hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, she became an internet phenomenon after images and videos of her selling garlands at the pilgrimage site went viral.

Monalisa Bags Malayalam Film:

Monalisa took to social media to share glimpses from the puja ceremony of her debut Malayalam film. The upcoming movie, titled 'Nagamma', will feature Neelathamara (2009) actor Kailash as the male lead. Directed by P. Binu Varghese and produced by Jeeli George, the project is expected to begin filming by the end of September, according to reports from OnManorama.

How Did She Become an Internet Sensation?

Earlier this year, Monalisa also made the news when she inaugurated a new Chemmanur Jewellers showroom in Kozhikode (Kerala). Her visit drew a large crowd, and she participated in celebratory events, including dancing alongside business magnate Boby Chemmanur.

Monalisa Bhosle got overnight fame due to her stunning beauty, particularly her eyes, during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Monalisa has spent years selling garlands at Kila Ghat near the Narmada River. However, her life changed when a content creator filmed her selling rudraksha garlands during the Mahakumbh. However, she later faced harassment, which forced her family to leave Prayagraj.

About her Bollywood Debut:

After her fame, Bhosle had also bagged a lead role in the upcoming film, 'The Diary of Manipur'. It is directed by Sanoj Mishra, known for his previous work on 'The Diary of West Bengal'. Monalisa will be the leading lady opposite Rajkummar Rao's brother, Amit Rao, who makes his debut with this in the showbiz. Details about the film are yet to be revealed.
