Television actor Tanya Mittal has extended her support to fellow Bigg Boss 19 contestant and stand-up comedian Pranit More, who has been facing criticism over his controversial “Rs 370 biryani” remark during a comedy show in Gurgaon.
Speaking about the issue, Tanya said that while Pranit did make a mistake, the level of public backlash against him has become excessive.
“I do feel bad for Pranit as well. A mistake was made, FIRs were filed against him, and he was subjected to intense public backlash,” Tanya said during a conversation with Fever FM.
‘People Should Stop at a Certain Point'
Tanya questioned whether social media has become too harsh, especially when criticism continues long after a person has acknowledged their mistake.
According to her, people have every right to question or criticise someone's actions, but there should be limits.
“You should stop at a certain point. Criticise, raise questions about someone, and then stop. At least ensure that his family can continue to live in society. He is a human being too, and humans make mistakes,” she said.
She also pointed out that anyone could find themselves facing public scrutiny one day for a comment made in a lighter moment.
What Sparked the Controversy?
The controversy began after a video from Pranit More's Gurgaon comedy show went viral on social media.
In the clip, an audience member, identified as Himanshu Jangra, joked that after spending Rs 370 on a biryani date with a woman, he expected physical intimacy in return.

Responding to the comment, Pranit described it as “peak Gurgaon behaviour.” The remark drew criticism online, with many users accusing him of not condemning the statement strongly enough.
Viral Clip Leads to Massive Backlash
The situation escalated further after Pranit uploaded the clip on his social media account. The video quickly went viral and attracted widespread criticism.
As the backlash intensified, Pranit reportedly deactivated his Instagram account. FIRs were also filed against him in connection with the controversy.
Meanwhile, audience member Himanshu Jangra also faced severe criticism online. Reports suggest that the controversy affected his professional life, leading to the termination of his job in Gurgaon.
Debate Over Online Backlash Continues
The incident has sparked a wider debate about accountability, online criticism, and whether social media outrage sometimes goes beyond reasonable limits.
While many people continue to criticise the remarks made during the show, Tanya Mittal believes that once a mistake has been acknowledged, there should also be room for people to move forward without facing endless public humiliation.
