Influencer Survives Snake Bite in Florida, Shares Gripping Hospital Video

David Humplett, a 25-year-old wildlife influencer, had a frightening experience walking through a forest in Florida while being bitten by a diamondback rattlesnake. The bite came from one of the deadliest snakes in the state, but Humplett's reaction shocked many.

Laughing Despite the Danger

After the attack, Humplett managed to capture himself on camera. In the footage, he doesn't look very panicked. He is joking around, having said, "Welp, I am cooked," to his friends, who are catatonic with shock. Humplett still managed to praise the snake as a "cool" and "big diamondback," all while knowing the serious situation. "Let's get the pictures of it first. I mean, we're already screwed anyways," he added, clearly trying to stay calm.

Understanding the Risk

As the bite went in, Humplett told the viewers that the diamondback rattlesnake is the "worst snake you can be bitten by in Florida." Knowing how deadly it was, he remained upbeat, even showing his audience the bleeding wound on his leg. People knew it was serious, but his calm attitude surprised everyone.

In the Hospital and Struggling to Stay Positive

Humplett was quickly flown to UF Health Shands by helicopter. Hours later, he shared another video from his hospital bed, where he appeared to be struggling to speak. Reports said he received 88 doses of antivenom to fight off the snake venom. “I'm scared I'm gonna die, but hopefully not,” he said in the video.

No Hard Feelings Toward the Snake

Though such a fearful incident happened to Humplett, he was not in any rage towards the snake. He stated it was acting defensively, and nobody should have hate feelings against that creature. Thus, Humplett was a good sport about things and concentrated on getting well while admiring his beloved wildlife.
