Content creator Ruchika Lohiya gets candid about her childhood memories of Independence Day celebrations from school. In an exclusive conversation with whosthat360, she shares how it used to full theatrical experience in school.

She shares, "I think my favorite memory from Independence Day would be when we used to serve laddoos in school, and that too in assembly after a whole parade, which our seniors used to do for us. There was a full theatrical experience that students would organize, and even teachers were involved, making it a grand celebration."

"Hoisting the Flag, It Was So Much Fun..."

She adds, "I feel that Independence Day's true essence always came from spending time in school, where teachers would tell us the importance of the day. All the rituals we used to do, like hoisting the flag, made it so much fun growing up. I feel that we're not celebrating Independence Day the way we used to do it in school."

She continued, "My most memorable moments were buying those plastic flags from the roadside and hoisting a flag with my sister. Even in our factories and offices, there used to be flag hoisting everywhere, and serving laddoos to everyone. These are some of my major memories from Independence Day."

"It Was A Huge Internal Celebration..."

"I also remember my grandfather's house, where they'd always switch on the TV to watch the parade and tell us how independence was important to them. Coming from Jodhpur, a border area, I understood how much the city was affected before independence. They were very sore about it, and when independence happened, it was a huge internal celebration, more than an external one. It was like a holiday, and I feel that's how it should be celebrated," she concluded.
