  • Try to get gadget-free for at least 60 mins after waking up

  • Breathwork helps in releasing stress and rejuvenating the body

How we spend our morning sets the tone for the entire day. Here is what you can do in the first 60 minutes to enhance your mood, productivity and energy levels.

1. De-clutter your mind

As soon as you wake up, grab a pen and a paper and write down whatever comes to your mind. It's the time our subconscious mind is still active and we can access it to release some of the emotional blocks. Tear the paper after writing. If practiced daily, this technique will make you feel light, your mind will be clutter-free and more productive.

2. Drink warm water with herbs instead of coffee/tea

I know this one sounds boring but you have no idea what a cup of warm water infused with herbs like cumin, coriander and fennel or tulsi/lemon/cinnamon can do for your body. Not only does it have a plethora of health benefits, herbs also affect our emotions and our mood.

3. Move your body

Try to get in a minimum of 10-15 mins of movement on an empty stomach. It really gets the system going and also helps produce happy hormones.

4. Connect to your breath

Breathwork is the most potent practice to release stress and rejuvenate the body. If you have a hectic day ahead then include 10 mins of Breathwork in your morning routine. Establishing that connection with our breath and simply being aware of it is a very powerful mindfulness technique. It helps you collect your thoughts and emotions and identify/+ release what's bothering you.

5. Go gadget free

Try not to touch your mobile phone/tablets/ laptops as soon as you wake up. Spend some time with your loved ones, your pets or even your plants.

6. Read a chapter from a motivating book

Engage your mind in something positive and motivating. Even if you think that you don't need it, you never know where it might come helpful during the day, week or month.

7. Balance your goals for the day

Set clear goals, make sure your to-do list is not overwhelming. Balance your time in a way to include a couple of things you enjoy doing in that list, so that your inner child is excited and happy!
