With ingredients readily available at home, this recipe is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth cravings, especially during the colourful festival of Holi in 2024.

Ingredients for Instant Jalebi

Sugar Syrup Recipe:

  • Sugar: 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Few strands of saffron (kesar)
  • Water: 1 cup
  • Lemon: a few drops
  • Food color (optional)
  • Jalebi Batter Recipe:
  • All-purpose flour (maida): 1/2 cup
  • Baking soda: 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee: 1/2 tbsp + 1/2 tsp
  • Curd: 1/8 cup
  • Water: 1/4 cup

Method for Preparing Instant Jalebi

Prepare the Sugar Syrup: In a pan, combine sugar, cardamom powder, saffron strands, water, a few drops of lemon, and a pinch of food color. Mix well until the sugar syrup reaches almost a one-string consistency.

Prepare the Jalebi Batter: In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking soda, ghee, sour curd, and water to form a lump-free batter.

Frying the Jalebis: Fill a piping bag with the batter. Heat oil in a pan and pipe the batter into hot oil, forming the characteristic spiral shape of jalebis. Fry the jalebis on both sides until crispy.

Soaking the Jalebis: Immediately transfer the cooked jalebis into the prepared sugar syrup and let them soak for a few seconds.

Garnishing: Garnish the jalebis with nuts and silver leaf (varak) and serve hot.

This Holi, treat yourself and your loved ones to the delightful taste of homemade jalebis using Chef Aruna Vijay's instant recipe. Not only will you impress your guests with this sweet indulgence, but you'll also enjoy the satisfaction of creating a traditional favourite in the comfort of your home. So, get ready to satiate your sweet cravings and add a touch of sweetness to your Holi celebrations in 2024.
