Malaika Arora Opens Up About Judgements After Her Divorce With Arbaaz Khan; Here's What She Said

Malaika Arora has opened up about judgement for years, but her latest remarks cut right to the heart of what she's dealt with since her divorce. Instead of shying away from the conversation, she addressed the way people reacted to her choices and why the rules always seem to change when it comes to women.

Long before the headlines and the social media noise, Malaika Arora had already built a busy early career. In her early 20s, she worked as an MTV VJ, becoming one of the most recognizable faces on the channel. Modelling offers and music videos followed, and 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' in 1998 made her an instant sensation. That same year, she married Arbaaz Khan, entering the Khan family at a young age.

For years, she made guest appearances in films like the 'Dabangg' series while balancing work and home. After nearly 19 years together, Malaika and Arbaaz decided to separate in 2017. They chose privacy over public explanation, but the break-up changed the way people viewed her.

While Arbaaz moved on with Giorgia Andriani and later married makeup artist Sshura Khan, Malaika's relationship with Arjun Kapoor became a constant topic online. People picked apart her choices, the age gap and even her everyday life. The difference in how she was treated compared to Arbaaz bothered her, and she has now spoken about it openly.

"You Are Constantly Judged For Being Strong"

Recently, Malaika spoke about the criticism she still faces. She said, “You are constantly judged for being strong. We are going to have these judgements irrespective. I have utmost regard and love for men because some of the men in my life have been instrumental and really amazing."

She then pointed out how society treats men and women differently in similar situations.

“Today, if a man decides to move on, get a divorce, marry someone half his age, it's like, ‘Wow, what a man!' But when a woman does it, she is questioned: ‘Why would she do something like that? Doesn't she have sense?' There are constant stereotypes."

She also remembered her mother's reaction when she got married at 25. “My mom would always say, ‘Go out there, enjoy your life, and please don't marry the first guy you date', which I did. I married the first guy I ever dated. She couldn't understand why I would do that. She said, ‘If you do that, how will you ever know what's out there?' And I was like, ‘Mom, chill now.' But she has always been someone who encouraged us to live and dream. She never stopped us from doing anything."
