Sunita Ahuja on Divorce Rumors: "I Wont Let Anyone Take My Husband Away..."

Earlier this year, whispers of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja parting ways after 38 years of marriage surfaced online, causing concern among fans. Sunita had previously debunked those reports, but the speculation persisted, causing her to issue multiple denials. Recently,  she said that her marriage has been cursed by someone.

Sunita Ahuja Denies Divorce Rumors:

Addressing the speculations around her marriage, Sunita Ahuja laughed and said, “Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi (I don't know who cursed us). I won't let anyone take my husband away from me." In the same conversation, Sunita recalled how her father was against their marriage.

Sunita Revealed Her Father Was Against Her Marriage: 

“He never wanted me to marry Govinda. He didn't even come to my wedding. He knew what goes around in the film industry, he wanted me to marry a businessman. He had even selected a boy for me in Holland, but mera pyaar sacha tha (but I truly loved Govinda). I was 15 years old when I held Govinda's hand. That childhood love is like that, we both loved each other a lot," Sunita said.

"Govinda's Mother Was Very Supportive..."

Unlike Sunita's father, Govinda's mother was very supportive of their relationship. Sunita said, “When I got married to Govinda, he lived with his big family, but I loved him. Even now, I am living at Govinda's home because of my mother-in-law. She wanted us to get married. She had told him, ‘Chichi, if you leave Sunita, tu bhikari ban jayega (If you leave Sunita, you will become a beggar). I remember this dialogue."

Sunita and Govinda's story goes back to their teenage years. The two met when Govinda was completing his B.Com and Sunita was in the 9th grade, staying at her sister's house, who happened to be married to Govinda's maternal uncle. Despite a rocky beginning, love bloomed. The couple married in 1986, long before Govinda became a household name, and kept their marriage under wraps for four years. Today, they are parents to two children, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja. While Tina has already stepped into Bollywood, Yashvardhan is gearing up for his debut.
