The 86-year-old actor has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, since October 8, 2025, where he is undergoing treatment for severe sepsis, a life-threatening infection that has left him in a critical state.

The news has sparked an outpouring of concern online, with many recalling how deeply Dalvi's work as Sai Baba touched their lives. Among those who responded was Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of late actor Rishi Kapoor and sister of Ranbir Kapoor. She contributed to the actor's medical fund and commented under a social media post, writing, “Done, Wishing him a speedy recovery.”
