Punjab Influencer Found Dead In Car; Police Suspect Murder

The body of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur, was found in a car parked near Adesh Medical University on the Bathinda-Chandigarh National Highway late Tuesday night.

Punjab Influencer Was Found Dead In Her Car:

The vehicle, with Ludhiana registration, had been parked in the hospital lot for an extended period, prompting suspicion. A strong foul smell from the car led hospital staff to alert the police.

CCTV footage retrieved by police shows a man driving the vehicle in which Kaur was later found dead. In the video, the man is seen parking the car at the hospital premises before walking away.

Kamal is a resident of Ludhiana's Laxman Nagar. Investigations revealed that the vehicle where her body was discovered is registered in her own name. 

Here's What the Police Have to Say:

Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh confirmed on Thursday that the deceased was a 30-year-old resident of Lachman Colony in Ludhiana.

“The victim's family has been informed. Preliminary information suggests she left Ludhiana on June 9 for a promotional event in Bathinda and subsequently lost contact with her family. Further legal action will be taken based on their statements,” he said.

Investigators suspect the woman was murdered and her body was later dumped in the rear seat of the car.

“Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently not possible to determine the presence of any injury marks. The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for post-mortem,” the SP added.

About the Threats:

Kanchan had a notable presence on social media and had been involved in several controversies online. A report in The Tribune stated that in October of the previous year, Kaur had received threats from Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla, who had allegedly warned her to stop posting what he deemed inappropriate videos.
