Niharika NM Opens Up On Quitting Content Creation At Its Peak: "It Was A Risk I Was Willing To Take"

Social media star Niharika NM has spoken candidly about stepping away from a highly successful content creation career to pursue acting full-time, calling the decision one of the biggest risks she has taken.

With millions of followers across platforms, Niharika NM became a household name through her relatable comedy sketches and multilingual content. However, at the peak of her digital success, the creator made a bold decision to pause content creation and chase a career in films. The influencer is now set to make her Hindi film debut with 'Bhai Tera Star Hai' alongside Raghav Juyal.

The Big Leap From Content Creation:

Reflecting on her transition from social media to films, Niharika admitted that leaving behind a successful career was far from easy. “I stopped making content probably three years ago and it was a risk that I was willing to take at the peak of my social media career as a content creator because I truly believed that I wanted to be part of bigger, larger stories that I was passionate about telling. It was a risk I was willing to take, and I think it is slowly paying off.”

For Niharika, the decision meant stepping away from a career she had already mastered and one that brought significant financial rewards. “The process of transitioning can be a little daunting because leaving something you're already good at and that makes you a lot of money is quite a risk to take. But I believed in myself. Worst-case scenario, I know how to build myself back up. That much faith I have in myself.”

Why She Chose Acting Over Social Media:

Instead of balancing both worlds, Niharika decided to dedicate herself entirely to learning the craft of acting. “I wanted to fully jump into acting because I wanted to really learn. I wanted to do well and actually be accepted by the audience not just for my personality on the internet, but also for my work as an actor.”

The creator-turned-actor revealed that while the transition came with pressure and responsibility, it also helped her discover what truly makes her happy.

More Than Just A Content Creator:

Addressing the perception that her social media fame opened doors in the industry, Niharika stressed that acting has always been her dream. “I've always been a theatre kid. I graduated from Chapman University, where I did my MBA and MFA. Storytelling has always been what I wanted to do. What I did on the internet was also storytelling, just packaged differently." She believes content creation and acting are closely linked through storytelling, though the platforms may differ.

While she continues making a mark in cinema, Niharika remains grateful for the audience that supported her digital journey. The actor said the love she has received from fans has given her the confidence to take bigger risks and explore new opportunities. Following her Tamil film 'Idhayam Murali' and upcoming Hindi debut 'Bhai Tera Star Hai', Niharika is now preparing for several darker Tamil projects that will showcase a completely different side of her as a performer.
