Monsoon seems tempting to all of us. Not only because of the pleasant weather, but also, we get to eat our favorite pakoras. But the skin issues are often on the rise during this period. The spike in humidity, sweat, and grime basically sets up the perfect storm for clogged pores and acne flare-ups, leading to pimples and more skin-related problems. If you are dealing with any such skin issues during this monsoon, we've got you covered. To address these issues, we have exclusively connected with Dr. Chiranjiv Chhabra, a renowned dermatologist. Here's what she has to say,

Major Skincare Myth During Monsoon:

She says, "One thing I see all the time is people with oily skin skipping moisturiser, thinking it will just make things worse. But that's actually a big skincare myth! When your skin gets dehydrated, it starts producing even more oil, and that's when the breakouts really start. The trick is to keep things balanced. For this, you have to go for a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser and use a gentle, foaming cleanser that controls oil without stripping your skin dry."

Avoid Heavy Makeup:

"I always tell my patients to steer clear of heavy makeup and greasy skincare products during the monsoon. These can trap sweat and bacteria, making pimples worse. Instead, look for ingredients like salicylic acid, niacinamide, or benzoyl peroxide in your routine—they really help keep breakouts under control," she adds

"Don't Go Overboard With Scrubbing!"

Sharing the tip for overcoming the acne, she mentions, "Here's another pro tip most people often miss out– always change out of damp clothes quickly, and try not to let wet hair sit on your face or back. That extra moisture and friction can trigger body acne, especially around the jawline and shoulders. And please, don't go overboard with scrubbing! Over-exfoliating might seem like a quick fix, but it can actually damage your skin barrier and make inflammation worse."

She continues, "If you're dealing with frequent or painful pimples, don't hesitate to see a dermatologist. Sometimes a personalised treatment plan—whether it's a peel, a medi-facial, acne healing laser or a prescription cream—can make all the difference and prevent long-term scarring."

"A few mindful swaps in your routine can help your skin survive (and even glow) this monsoon. Remember, your skin deserves as much attention as your wardrobe does this season," she concluded.
