Many of us accidentally keep emotional trauma from our childhood. Some of the habits we form to cope with our early experiences can last into adulthood. They may appear to be typical behavior, yet they are frequently the result of emotional pain. Princy Saini, a motivational speaker, says that recognizing such symptoms is the first step toward healing.
Saying Sorry All the Time
Do you say “sorry” even when something isn't your fault? This may be a quiet sign of an old wound. You may have learned to apologize to avoid conflict or to keep others calm. It was your way to stay safe. Now, that habit might make you feel small or unsure of yourself. Start by noticing when you say sorry — ask yourself, “Did I really do something wrong?”
Always Expecting the Worst
Some people always have a fear that something horrible may happen. If this is you, it could be because you learned as a child that danger can strike at any moment. Your mind stayed alert to protect you. But you're not in that same place anymore. Remind yourself: “It's safe to expect good things too.”
Doing Everything Alone
If you are finding it difficult to seek help, it may be that no one was around when you needed help the most. You have learned to count only on yourself. You need to attempt to seek little assistance from someone you can trust. You do not need to do everything by yourself.
Be Gentle with Yourself
These behaviors are not flaws, they're survival tools from your past. But you're safe now. Healing takes time, and one small step is enough. Be kind to yourself on this journey.
