Homemade Ginger Bug & Naturally Fermented Grape Soda Recipe
Making the Ginger Bug:
Prepare the Base: Slice 1-2 tablespoons of organic ginger (keep the skin on). Add it to a 300 ml jar and fill halfway with water.
Mix in 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir well.
Daily Feeding for 6-7 Days: Every day, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and a little more ginger. Stir well each time to keep it active.
Signs of Fermentation:
Day 1: Tiny bubbles appear.
Day 2-3: More bubbles start forming on top.
Day 5-6: A lot of fizz—your ginger bug is ready!
Storage: Cover with cheesecloth or a loosely fitted lid (never airtight—it needs to breathe!). Once ready, store in the fridge and feed it weekly with a little sugar and ginger.
Making the Grape Soda:
Prepare the Juice: Wash and blend fresh grapes with peppercorns, sugar, and water.
Strain the juice and pour it into an airtight bottle.
Fermentation Process: Add 100-150 ml of ginger bug to the juice. Mix well and seal the bottle. Let it ferment at room temperature for at least 3 days.
Important Tip: Burp the bottle daily—open the lid slightly to release pressure, as it builds up quickly.
Final Step: After 3 days, open the bottle and enjoy the natural fizz!
Chill in the fridge before serving for a refreshing, homemade grape soda. Enjoy your naturally fermented, probiotic-rich drink!
This natural fizz is her go-to party drink and serving guests with this also feels fancy.
