  • Sadhguru calls eggs "worst" in viral video
  • Suggests vegetarian B12-rich alternatives
  • Statement sparks online health debate

In a world where eggs are often seen as a go-to source of protein, spiritual leader Sadhguru has sparked debate by suggesting otherwise. In a recent social media video, he questioned the habit of consuming eggs daily and highlighted the importance of choosing the right foods, especially during seasonal changes when energy levels may fluctuate.

According to him, poor dietary choices can lead to fatigue and a dip in overall energy, particularly if not balanced with nutrient-rich alternatives.

Why Protein and Vitamin B12 Matter:

Protein is essential for building and repairing body tissues. It supports muscle growth, strengthens immunity, and plays a key role in producing enzymes and hormones. Since the body cannot store protein, it must be consumed regularly through diet.

Vitamin B12 is equally important. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells, improves brain function, and supports memory and concentration. A deficiency in B12 can lead to fatigue, कमजोरी, mood swings, and even nerve-related issues. For women, especially, maintaining adequate levels is crucial for overall well-being.

Vegetarian Alternatives from South India:

Sadhguru highlighted that traditional Indian diets already include several vegetarian foods rich in protein and B12. He mentioned three simple, time-tested dishes that are both nutritious and easily available.

Lakshmi Charu:

A popular dish from Andhra Pradesh, Lakshmi Charu is a flavourful rasam made using rice starch water, tamarind, spices, and curry leaves. It is a great example of sustainable cooking, as it uses leftover rice water instead of wasting it. Light, nourishing, and easy to digest, it is often paired with steamed rice.

Pazhaya Sadam:

Common in Tamil Nadu and nearby regions, this dish is made by soaking cooked rice overnight. The fermentation process enhances its probiotic content, making it excellent for gut health. Usually served with curd, onions, or pickles, it is a cooling and refreshing meal, especially during the summer.

Koozh:

Koozh is a traditional porridge made from fermented millet flour, like ragi or bajra. Rich in protein, it is known for its cooling properties and ability to keep the body hydrated. It is filling, nutritious, and often consumed with simple sides like onions or pickles.

A Balanced Approach to Nutrition:

Sadhguru's perspective encourages people to explore traditional, plant-based alternatives for nutrition. While eggs remain a widely accepted source of protein, these vegetarian options prove that a balanced, wholesome diet rooted in local traditions can also meet the body's essential nutrient needs effectively.
