- Say goodbye to acid reflux and bloating
Drinking water is necessary for good health, but did you know that how you drink it can affect your digestion and overall well-being? Kamya, a yoga teacher, discusses some crucial recommendations for drinking water correctly to avoid common health concerns such as acid reflux, heartburn, and digestive disorders.
Mistakes to Avoid While Drinking Water
Drinking Water While Standing
Water taken when a person is standing passes into the body too quickly. This water, in turn fails to mix well with digestive juices. More impurities are left behind inside the body, and this would disrupt the digestive processes.
Drinking Chilled Water
Chilled water requires a lot more energy in your body for it to be at the right temperature to digest properly. It remains for longer periods in your stomach, which leads to bloating and other digestive issues. Room-temperature water is easier for the body to handle.
Gulping Lots of Water
When you drink a lot of water at once, it does not mix well with the saliva in your mouth. Saliva is crucial because it neutralizes gastric acid. Gulping water too quickly might interrupt the process, resulting in acid reflux and other stomach troubles.
Drinking Without Thirst
Drinking more water than you require just because someone says so can lead to overhydration or even water poisoning. The body will inform you when it becomes thirsty—just listen to its call. Drinking more water than your body requires might place additional strain on your kidneys.
What to Do for Better Health
Drink 2 Glasses of Water Immediately After Getting Up
This sets the internal organs in your body and helps make bowel movement easy
Drink Water 30 Minutes Before a Meal
This improves digestion, reduces bloating, and offers better nutrient absorption.
Drink Water Before a Shower
This may help control blood pressure and keep you hydrated.
Drink Water Before Bed
This reduces the possibility of a heart attack, quality sleep, and healthy-looking skin.
By following these simple guidelines, you may optimize your digestion, reduce acid reflux, and stay energized throughout the day. Drink water wisely and let your body be your guide!
