1. Garlic – Good for Your Gut
Garlic is more than just a flavor booster. It has natural ingredients like allicin and sulfur compounds that may have the ability to suppress the development of cancer cells. Those who eat garlic every day may have a reduced risk of getting stomach or colon cancer.
2. Turmeric - Works Better with Black Pepper
Turmeric has been shown to fight off inflammation and suppress cell growth. It has been found to have potential protective effects against breast, colon, and prostate cancers. It is advisable to have bioavailability of turmeric increased when taken with a pinch of black pepper.
3. Broccoli and Other Cruciferous Veggies
Vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower have sulforaphane. This helps your body clean the bad stuff and can reduce the chances of making tumors. These vegetables are great for everyday food.
4. Tomatoes – Even Better When Cooked
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which is good for your cells. The study suggests that the lycopene can help prevent breast and prostate cancer. The cooking tomato makes the lycopene even stronger, so tomato soup or sauce is a good alternative.
5. Flax Seeds – Tiny but Powerful
Flax seeds are small, but they pack a punch. They have lignans, which help balance the hormones in the body. It can be helpful to reduce the risk of cancer related to hormones such as breast cancer.
Remember: These foods are useful, but the difference actually makes your general lifestyle - how much protein you eat, how well you sleep, how often you exercise and how far you stay away from fried food, sugar and smoking.
