Raksha Bandhan 2025: Content creator Rohit Sukheja speaks to Jayveer Singh exclusively. In this Rakhi special interview, he opens up about his special bond with his sister. He also shares interesting budget-friendly gift ideas.

Here are a few edited excerpts of this delightful conversation;

What's the most meaningful Rakhi gift you've ever received or given, and what made it special?

My answer might sound very superficial, but there's a deeper reason behind it, so hear me out. The most meaningful gift I gave my sister was a slightly decent sum of money last year. Like I said, wait, let me explain and tell you why it was meaningful. For all my life, I have never been in a great place financially speaking. So, I always resorted to gifting her little things that I could afford or small sentimental things that would make her smile. And don't get me wrong, she absolutely loved any gift coming from me; the issue wasn't that.

The problem was when I would look at others and I would see my friends and acquaintances giving shagun to their sisters, it would upset me that I couldn't do the same for my sister, and I wanted to give my sister the world. So today, when I am in a much better place in life, of course, I will put the world at my baby sister's feet and make up for all the years when I couldn't. It was a very emotional moment for all of us because everyone knew what it meant. Of course, along with this, the sentimental gifts do continue. That will never stop.

What's your favorite way to make Rakhi celebrations more special and memorable?

Spending time together. That is THE MOST important thing. To put everything aside and just be present for each other. And honestly, every Rakhi for me has been memorable because I get so overwhelmed, in a good way, seeing my sister in traditional Indian clothes, doing aarti for me… I always tear up.

Plus, it's the only day where we call truce and put our typical brother sister shenanigans aside. Our parents appreciate the peace as well (laughs).

Can you share a Rakhi gift idea that's budget-friendly but thoughtful?

Well, after years of having to stay within budget (laughs), I have figured out the best budget-friendly gift to give your sister or brother. Sketch her/him or the two of you together. Even if you can't draw, learn. And it doesn't matter if it doesn't come out great. Because sketching requires a lot of time and energy, and the fact that you were willing to put in that effort will speak volumes about what he/she means to you. I promise you, you will end up framing the sketch, no matter how good or bad it is, and it will become one of the most memorable Rakhi celebrations for you.
