Orry And Rick Astley QR Code Viral Claims; CBSE Calls Them Misleading

For the past few days, claims have been going viral that CBSE Class 12 exam question paper QR codes are linked to influencer Orry. This created confusion among students, as many believed scanning the codes was directly connected to him. However, CBSE has now clarified these claims. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education has cleared the confusion around QR codes printed on Class 12 board exam papers. The board dismissed viral claims that these codes were linked to influencer Orry and singer Rick Astley, calling such claims misleading and incorrect.

Why Did The Confusion Start

The issue began when students scanned QR codes on exam papers, especially during the Class 12 History exam on March 30. Some claimed the codes led to search results related to Orry. Earlier, during the Maths exam, students said they were redirected to Never Gonna Give You Up, a famous internet prank known as a “rickroll”.

CBSE Explains The Real Use Of QR Codes

CBSE clarified that these QR codes are not meant to open websites or videos. They are used only for internal purposes like checking authenticity, tracking papers, and maintaining exam security.

The board explained that when users scan and then search the decoded text online, search engines may show unrelated results. This is why names like Orry appeared, which created confusion on social media.

CBSE also said that some people are spreading these claims in a misleading way, which can harm the board's credibility. It strongly stated that exam integrity remains safe and QR codes are only technical tools for verification.

With exams ongoing, CBSE urged students not to believe such viral rumours and rely only on official information.
