The reunion episode of 'The Traitors' brought several unresolved moments from the show's first season back into the spotlight. Among the most talked-about exchanges was the heated discussion between Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui, as the actress confronted him over a remark she found offensive during the competition.
Munawar Questions Mallika's Strategy:
During the reunion, host Karan Johar revisited an earlier disagreement between the two contestants. Referring to Mallika Sherawat's gameplay, Munawar Faruqui claimed that the actress had deliberately portrayed herself as less intelligent while participating in the social-deduction reality show.
Recalling her own admission from the show, Munawar said that despite being intelligent and well-travelled, Mallika had adopted a "fake" personality for the game. Responding with humour, Mallika quipped, “Munawar ne toh mujhpe PhD kar rakhi hai, haina?” Munawar quickly replied that he was not educated enough to earn a PhD.
Mallika Slams 'Drugs' Comment:
The conversation soon turned serious when Mallika brought up a remark Munawar had made during the Circle of Shaq segment. The actress revealed that she was deeply hurt when her calm demeanour was questioned.
She said, “Pehle Circle of Shaq main Munawar couldn't handle my calm nervous system. Mujhe kya pata tha to be calm is also a crime in this game. ‘Aise lagta hai ki jaise aap drugs par hain,' yeh bola gaya hai mujhe Circle of Shaq main jo mujhe bohot hi bura laga, misogynistic comment. Aap mere gameplay pe comment kijiye…”
Mallika further defended herself, stating that participants had every right to doubt her intentions in the game but should refrain from making personal remarks.

She added, “Aapko pura haq hai mujhpe shaq karne ka. Lekin yeh bolna ki aap drugs par hain, and if you cannot understand my calm nervous system, being calm ab crime ho gaya. ‘Yeh toh aapka comeback hai,' this game is not about a comeback. That's not the spirit of this game.”
Karan Brings Up Rhea Comment:
The discussion took another turn when Karan Johar questioned Mallika about her own remarks directed at Rhea Chakraborty during the show. Pointing out that Mallika had previously referred to Rhea's "comeback," Karan described the comment as insensitive considering the challenges Rhea had faced.
Highlighting the difficult phase in Rhea's life, Karan said such subjects should be approached with empathy and understanding.
Mallika Reveals She Apologised:
Accepting Karan's criticism, Mallika disclosed that she had subsequently apologised to Rhea Chakraborty for her comment. The reunion episode ended up holding several contestants accountable for their words, proving that moments from the game continue to spark debate long after the competition has ended.
Based on the Dutch format 'De Verraders', 'The Traitors' follows a social-deduction game where contestants are divided into Traitors and Innocents, with strategy, suspicion and mind games driving the competition.
