Jiyaa Shankar Gets Real About Love and Relationships; Says "Cheating is Cheating"

Jiyaa Shankar recently set social media abuzz after officially confirming her relationship. Speaking candidly about love, trust, and boundaries, the actress made it clear that cheating, whether emotional or physical, is non-negotiable for her.

Jiyaa opened up about how constant link-up rumours and online trolling affect her personal life. For those unaware, Jiyaa has frequently been linked to her 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' co-contestant Abhishek Malhan, something she says she has learned to emotionally navigate over time.

How Link-Up Rumors Impact Her Partner and His Family:

While Jiyaa says she has grown a thick skin when it comes to personal criticism, she draws a firm boundary when it involves her partner. She admitted that gossip becomes upsetting when it spills over to someone who isn't part of the entertainment industry.

As she explained, “We are used to it, we have gotten used to ignoring it, but the person we are with, at some point or somewhere, it does affect things." She added that things worsen when people start dragging her partner's identity and family into unnecessary speculation, saying, “You start saying a lot of nonsense about them, about their name, about who they are."

Jiyaa made it clear that while she can handle criticism herself, she becomes protective when her partner is targeted. “Say whatever you want to say to me, I don't care. But when it comes to that person, it's like no, he doesn't deserve this."

The actress shared that she approaches relationships seriously and has always believed in long-term commitment. She admitted that being in the public eye makes dating harder, especially for women in the industry, but she remains honest about her intentions.

She revealed, “I have always looked at relationships from the perspective of marriage. I have always dated to marry." At the same time, Jiyaa believes in moving forward if things don't work out, choosing not to dwell in heartbreak and instead wearing her heart on her sleeve.

She also expressed gratitude for her partner's understanding nature, sharing how he reassures her during difficult moments. Still, she said she constantly tries to ensure he feels secure despite the noise surrounding her profession.

Jiyaa didn't mince words when discussing infidelity. For her, emotional cheating is just as damaging as physical betrayal. She firmly stated, “Cheating is cheating. Whether it is emotional or physical, cheating is cheating." She explained that emotional involvement with someone else means a person has already checked out of the relationship mentally. “If you are emotionally involved, that means you are not fully present in this relationship," she said, calling it a clear sign that the relationship has already ended.
