Gauahar Khan Opens Up About Her Showbiz Journey: "I Was Born To Be On Stage..."

Gauahar Khan recently opened up about her early days in the fashion industry on Debina Bonnerjee's podcast, sharing a glimpse into her teenage years when she first started modelling. With refreshing candour, Gauahar highlighted the demanding nature of her job, revealing the long hours and shared accommodations that often go unseen. She also spoke in favour of greater recognition of models' hard work.

Gauahar Khan On Her Journey To Stardom:

"As an 18-year-old, I was extremely… I felt I was ahead of my time. The way I would answer questions. The way I would speak my mind. I had the confidence of somebody who was probably in their 20s," Gauahar shared.

Gauahar Khan's confidence and self-assurance were evident even in her teenage years, setting her apart from peers. She recalled, “In fact, when I used to do local pageants in Pune, I used to be 14-15 years old. And everyone else used to be like 21, 22, 23. And I would still beat them."

She further added, “It was something in me that I knew—that I was born to be on stage. And speak my mind and all of that. So, I think I gave it my thousand per cent. I wouldn't change anything."

But behind her success lay relentless hard work, fuelling her passion for modelling. Gauahar shed light on the industry's unseen demands, emphasising that the glamour often masks the immense effort required to thrive in the modelling world.

“I'm telling you, the hard work that models do—I don't think any fashion or glam industry has so much hard work. In my time, we had to share rooms with other models, travel economy, and give 12-12 hours of rehearsals. Just because you're looking glamorous, doesn't mean your life is easy or your money comes easy," she recalled.

She also made an honest comparison, saying, “If I say, actors' life is very easy in comparison to models. And they actually don't get the credit as much as they should. I have so much respect for models because I know how much hard work there is behind that glam-sham."

Gauahar Khan's words served as a poignant tribute to the modelling industry, reminding us that true success is rooted in dedication and perseverance, rather than just superficial glamour.
