In the clip, Zaid recalled asking Kushal for a cigarette because the ones he had were "bekar". Responding to him, Kushal joked, "Tujhe saali, saare meri cheezin pasand aati hai," a comment that many viewers interpreted as a reference to Gauahar, who was previously in a relationship with Kushal.

While several social media users criticised Kushal's remark, many also questioned Zaid's reaction, claiming he laughed instead of confronting the comment.

Amid the growing criticism, Gauahar publicly praised her husband through Instagram. Sharing a video of Zaid, she wrote, "Killer performance with 0 insecurities," a statement widely seen as her response to the ongoing debate.

She followed it up with another Instagram Story featuring the quote, "The more secure you are, the less you take offense."

Without directly naming anyone, Gauahar also addressed the controversy in a separate note. She wrote, "Not every ignorant thing needs a knee jerk reaction. Only The wise know to do better."

The actress concluded the message with a note for her husband, saying, "Proud of you @zaid_darbar."

Joining the conversation, Vicky Jain also defended Zaid and urged people not to judge him based on a brief reality show clip.
