  • Kushal calls Zaid Darbar a close friend, says fans misunderstood the joke

Kushal Tandon has finally addressed the controversy surrounding a remark he made during his stint on 'Alliance', which many viewers believed was directed at his ex-girlfriend Gauahar Khan. The actor has now clarified that the comment had nothing to do with Gauahar and was merely light-hearted banter between him and fellow contestant Zaid Darbar.

The remark gained attention after Kushal jokingly told Zaid, “Tujhe meri saari cheezein pasand aati hain (You seem to like everything that's mine)." Since Zaid is married to Gauahar Khan, the comment sparked speculation online, with some social media users interpreting it as a dig at the actress.

Kushal Calls The Remark “Boys' Talk”:

Speaking exclusively, Kushal explained that the statement was taken out of context and was never intended to reference anyone from his past.

“It was just boys' talk. I would smoke a cigarette, and he (Zaid) would want my cigarette. Whenever I was drinking coffee, he would want my coffee too. It was just a joke and part of the bond we shared. At that time, it didn't even occur to me that I was talking about a particular person or how people would interpret it. When two guys talk, they joke, ‘He seems to like everything that's mine,' and that was all there was to it. But people blew it out of proportion. Since there were no fights, they had to find something else, and when there was no controversy, they created one.”

The actor further stated that viewers misread the situation because there was no actual conflict between him and Zaid on the show.

His Friendship With Zaid Darbar:

Kushal also opened up about the camaraderie he developed with Zaid during the reality show. Contrary to expectations that the two might have an awkward dynamic due to Kushal's history with Gauahar, the actor said they formed a genuine friendship.

“Everyone probably thought Zaid and Kushal would fight. But we are mature people. Our past was 15 years ago, and we are all grown up. And I love the guy. Our bond was like the bond two boys form when they meet at a boarding school. That's exactly the kind of bond we had. I even forgot that he is Gauahar's husband. For me, he is simply a guy I met for the first time on the show, and I gelled with him. Our friendship will last a long time,” he shared.

A Look Back At Their History:

Kushal Tandon and Gauahar Khan began dating after meeting on 'Bigg Boss 7'. The two became one of television's most talked-about couples before eventually parting ways in 2014. Gauahar later married choreographer and content creator Zaid Darbar in 2020, and the couple are now parents to two sons.

With his latest clarification, Kushal hopes to put the controversy to rest, reiterating that his comment was nothing more than friendly banter and not a reference to Gauahar Khan.
