Elvish Yadav Calls Out IndiGo Airline Amid Hours-Long Flight Delays

IndiGo passengers have experienced delays and cancellations for the past few days. The issue escalated on Wednesday, with over 200 flights cancelled and disruptions continuing into today as well.

In this situation, lakhs of passengers are venting their frustration towards the airline. Among them is YouTuber and 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' winner Elvish Yadav, who criticized IndiGo after facing a major delay on his flight.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Elvish shared a picture of the jam-packed airport, capturing the chaotic situation. His caption summed up the frustration and exhaustion of countless passengers. He wrote, “Waah IndiGo Waah."

"Frustrating Experience with IndiGo Airlines!"

This is not the first time Elvish has vented his frustration over IndiGo flight delays. Earlier this month, he also slammed the airline after experiencing a major delay on his Mumbai-to-Delhi flight. He took to X to express his disappointment, revealing that his flight, originally scheduled to depart at 1 PM, was delayed by more than two and a half hours.

He wrote, “Frustrating experience with IndiGo Airlines! Flight 6E0615 was supposed to depart at 1 pm, but now it's delayed again and departing at 3:35 pm! If you're in a hurry, you're out of luck! Such poor management and lack of respect for passengers' time! #IndigoAirlines."

What led to 200 IndiGo Flights Being Cancelled?

IndiGo has been struggling with a shortage of cabin crew and pilots after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) enforced stricter norms from November 1. The new rules limit the number of landings between 12 am and 6 am and increase mandatory rest hours for crew members. IndiGo, along with other domestic airlines, had requested a postponement, as they would need to hire and train additional staff on short notice.

Because of these rules, several IndiGo aircraft were grounded as crew were unavailable to operate the flights. In a press note issued on Wednesday, the DGCA stated that IndiGo cancelled 1,232 flights in November, of which:

• 755 due to crew and FDTL limitations
• 92 because of ATC system failures
• 258 due to airport or airspace restrictions
• 127 for other miscellaneous reasons.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned IndiGo's senior management on Thursday to explain the “unprecedented disruptions" and present a roadmap for restoring normal operations during the peak travel season, when domestic passenger numbers are crossing five lakh a day.
