- Authenticity Over Perfection
In today's social media-driven world, it's very likely to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. Gayathri Shivaram offers a fresh perspective, pointing towards the importance of being authentic.
Stop Believing Everything You See
Social media portrays less than 1% of people's real lives, with much of it being edited or photoshopped. Comparing ourselves to these unrealistic personas often leads to body image issues, as we're not comparing "real" with "real" but rather with a hypocritical reel which is something unattainable.
Celebrities vs. Reality
Many people envy celebrities' gym routines, perfect figures, and flawless skin. However, Gayathri stresses that these public figures often have different struggles and that maintaining their appearance is part of their profession. They don't juggle regular 9-to-5 jobs, families, and finances like most people do.
Pace Yourself and Be Real
While staying fit, going on dates, and taking vacations are equally important, it's crucial to do them at our own pace and for ourselves. Authenticity is key, and the most important thing is to live our life for ourselves, not to meet the unrealistic and hypocritical standards set by social media trends.
By cherishing authenticity and avoiding false comparisons, you can live a more fulfilling and genuine life.
