As you know the month of Ramadan is going on and it's time to fast, pray and reflect spiritually. To make this month more special and wonderful, MasterChef Rukhsaar Sayeed introduces Kashmir's favorite special recipe - Babri byol tresh or Babri Tresh, a traditional Kashmiri Sherbet. It is made from sabza or basil seeds. Kashmiri have a rich tradition of ending their daily fast at sunset with this delicious drink. Let's make the day more delicious and special with its charming and refreshing taste and get to know the secret recipe of this mouth-watering beverage from the Chef.

Ingredients for Sherbet

  • Basil seeds 5 tbsp
  • Kateer 3 tbsp
  • Quince apple seeds 1 tbsp
  • Sugar to taste
  • Rose water 1 tbsp
  • Beetroot powder 1 tbsp
  • Milk 4 cups

Method

  • Soak the basil, kateer and apple seeds in water for at least 2 hours.
  • Take a jar or glass and add soaked items.
  • Add milk in the jar and mix them well.
  • Add some rose water or beetroot powder for a delicious color instead of using Rooh Afza.

Add Rose Jelly to make it tastier and more delicious.

Ingredients to make Rose Jelly:

  • 2 cup filtered water
  • 1 tbsp rose water
  • 1 tbsp beetroot powder
  • 1 tsp agar powder
  • Sugar as per taste.

Method:

  • Bring water and sugar to boil.
  • Add rose water, beetroot powder and agar to.
  • Cook for 2 minute on medium flame. Transfer to a container and let it refrigerate overnight.
  • Cut into desired shape and enjoy.
