In a world filled with quick fixes and instant pain-relief solutions, many traditional remedies focus on addressing the root cause rather than providing temporary comfort. Nutritionist Kiran Kukreja recently highlighted an age-old homemade mix packed with nutrient-dense ingredients that may help nourish the brain and nervous system over time, especially for those who frequently experience headaches or migraines.
The Wisdom Behind Traditional Remedies:
For generations, Indian households have relied on simple kitchen ingredients to support overall wellness. Unlike instant remedies, these preparations are often designed to provide long-term nourishment to the body.
According to Kiran Kukreja, this traditional blend is not meant to offer immediate headache relief. Instead, it works as a nourishing bedtime supplement that may help support brain health and nervous system function when consumed consistently for two to three months.
What Goes Into The Remedy:
The nutritious mix combines several ingredients known for their health benefits:
- 1 cup roasted unsalted makhana
- 1 cup grated dry coconut
- 3-4 tbsp poppy seeds
- 5-6 tbsp roasted melon seeds
- ½ cup roasted walnuts
- ½ cup dhaga mishri
All the ingredients are ground together into a coarse powder and stored in an airtight container. The mixture can be safely stored for up to two months.
How To Consume It:
Take one teaspoon of the prepared mixture and add it to a glass of warm milk before bedtime.
For additional nourishment, Kiran Kukreja suggests adding one to two drops of badam rogan. This simple nightly ritual can become a part of a holistic wellness routine focused on supporting cognitive health and overall well-being.
Nutritional Benefits Of The Ingredients:
Makhana is rich in antioxidants and contains nutrients that support overall health. Walnuts are often considered a brain-friendly food due to their healthy fats and omega-3 content. Melon seeds and poppy seeds provide minerals and healthy fats, while dry coconut contributes beneficial fats that help promote satiety and energy.
Together, these ingredients create a nutrient-rich blend that supports long-term nourishment rather than temporary symptom management.
A Holistic Approach To Wellness:
One of the key takeaways from this traditional remedy is consistency. Kiran Kukreja emphasizes that regular consumption is important, particularly for individuals dealing with recurrent headaches or migraines.
Combined with proper sleep, hydration, stress management, and a balanced diet, this traditional preparation may serve as a wholesome addition to a healthy lifestyle. While it is not a substitute for medical treatment, it reflects the enduring value of traditional nutrition-based practices that continue to be passed down through generations.
