Independence Day 2025: We all have special school memories of the celebrations - from sweets distribution to patriotic performances. These memories still evoke nostalgia. We asked influencers: What's your favorite childhood memory of celebrating Independence Day at school?

Poonam Pandey: "Independence Day In School Was A Whole Vibe"

Poonam Pandey shares, "Independence Day in school was a whole vibe: crisp whites, tricolor badges, and marching like mini soldiers on a mission. I'd sing the anthem so loud I'd lose my voice, stash extra ladoos in my pocket, and laugh with friends till the flag stopped fluttering. Those tiny moments felt like our own little revolution."

"My Mom Would Give Me Tricolor Sandwiches..." Says Sukriti

Sukriti shares, "My favorite Independence Day memory from school is of a special activity where our teachers asked us to bring tricolor-themed tiffins. My mom would make these amazing tricolor sandwiches with carrot, cheese, and cucumber layers. I was always excited to see what other kids had brought - some had tricolor chutneys, while others had tricolor idlis. It was such a fun experience." 

She adds, "Another cherished memory is of attending the flag hoisting ceremony on August 15th. Since my mom taught at the same school and we lived nearby, we'd go together. Seeing the flag hoisted and singing the National Anthem in unison still gives me goosebumps. The refreshments afterwards were a highlight too - we'd get a sandwich, a drink, mithai, and sometimes a samosa."

Aatman Desai: "I Had The Honor Of Hoisting The Flag Twice..."

Aatman Desai shares, "One of my favorite childhood memories of Independence Day at school is being part of the choir group, standing on stage singing the national anthem - it still gives me goosebumps! As a class prefect, I had the honor of hoisting the flag twice, which was an unforgettable feeling of pride and excitement."

He adds, "The school would transform into a vibrant display of saffron, white, and green, with posters, flags, and ribbons everywhere. Our teachers would wear beautiful tricolor-themed sarees, while we wore spotless white uniforms with flag badges, feeling super patriotic."

"But the highlight was definitely the food-free sandwiches with orange, white, and green sauces, chocolates (I was the teacher's favorite, so I always got extra!), and a license to have fun. The energy was unmatched, with music, dance performances, and lots of laughter," he concludes.
