Hina Khan Gets Emotional While Sharing Her Cancer Journey

Hina Khan, who is currently battling cancer, has opened up about her struggles during this journey of recovery on World Cancer Day 2025. Speaking at an event organized by the Nargis Dutt Foundation, she shed light on the challenges of battling cancer, sharing her experiences and raising awareness about the disease.

Hina Khan's Emotional Breakdown:

She spoke about how people often dismiss medical tests recommended by doctors. She highlighted how some assume, "Look, there's nothing in the report—the doctor just made you take these tests for no reason." She added, "Aapko nahi andaaza hai wo kitni badi khushi hai ke aapke test me kuch nahi aaya. Ask us, how hard it is kina hard hai, wo report padhna, wo ghanta when you go to the doctor and your doctor diagnosis you with certain illness. Usse better hai paise waste ho rahe hain, aapka test ho raha hai, aap better hai isse badi khushi koi nahi hai." Hina broke down into tears during her speech as she recalled the stressful process of her cancer treatment. She further emotionally spoke about how difficult everything is, staring from getting the call about the report and reading it to everything.

Hina Appreciates PM Modi's Initiatives:

Speaking to news agency ANI, Hina Khan emphasized the importance of early cancer diagnosis. She also expressed her appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives, particularly Ayushman Bharat, a national public health insurance scheme aimed at providing accessible healthcare.

"People Have Prayed For Me..."

While Hina Khan has been strongly battling cancer, she is very thankful for the support she has received. "I choke when I talk about the support I got from across the world. People have prayed for me, and I am truly touched," she said. Recalling the moment that gave her real strength, Hina shared, "Ro (Rocky) came home and told me about the diagnosis. I was having dinner, so he waited for me to finish and then he broke the news. It took around 10 minutes for it to sink in. I just couldn't believe what happened. I just put my head down and didn't know what to do. 15 minutes before Ro came home, I had told my brother that after many years, I was craving to have falooda. We just ordered it. Till then I didn't know anything because the doctor had directly called Rocky."

She added, "After he shared the news, nobody spoke a word. The news was going to consume me. Maybe I would have started crying, and then the bell rang. It was the falooda we ordered. At that moment I realized, this may sound silly to a lot of people, but that falooda was a turning point for me. I thought to myself, ‘Hina that's your life, you called for a falooda, enjoy it, this is just a glitch, a hiccup that can be dealt with, but that is your life. We will wake up and go back to that life.' So, I asked my brother to unpack the falooda and we had it. We went to sleep and the next day went to the doctor."

About the Diagnosis:

Back in June, Hina Khan announced the news of her stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis to Instagram family. However, Hina assured her fans that she was “doing well". In her statement, she revealed that her therapy had already begun and thanked everyone for their love and support.
