Content creator Jyotika Dilaik speaks exclusively to Jayveer Singh. In this delightful conversation, she opens up about her journey into content creation and why she calls herself an "accidental vlogger." She discusses the major challenges she faces as a creator and explains where she draws the line for her audience.

Excerpts...

What is the key to staying relevant as a content creator?
I believe the key is to stay real and stay consistent. When you show your real side, people connect with you more. Fake personas can only last so long. Eventually, your true self comes out, and that can confuse your audience. So, the more real you are, the more beneficial it is for you.

How did your content creation journey begin?
I call myself an accidental blogger. I was preparing for UPSC exams. During a long weekend, I went to my native home with just one or two books, and then lockdown was announced. Since Shimla was too crowded, we moved to our village where homes are spread out. Out of boredom, I started making videos. If the lockdown hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't have gone to the village and started blogging.

Do you feel pressure to be relevant, especially since your whole family is into blogging now?
No, I don't feel pressured. Everyone has their own personality and audience. People who like Rohini will watch her, and those who like Rajat will watch him. My audience is mine. But yes, when your peers are also blogging, they realize it's not as easy as it looks, there's real effort behind it.

How do you stay consistent with content creation despite life events, health issues, or mood swings?
Blogging is now a part of my life, ike eating or sleeping. At times, I do take breaks when I feel low, but mostly I keep going.

Since your content is lifestyle-based, where do you draw the line on what to share?
From day one, I wanted our content to be positive and stress-relieving. I avoid over-sharing. For example, we haven't done a full house tour yet, that's one space we want to keep private. Most of our life is already public, so it's important to keep some things for ourselves.

How do you deal with intrusive comments or assumptions made by the audience?
If someone says I love one niece/nephew more than the other, I won't believe it because, I know my truth. As for intrusiveness, I chose to blog, my family didn't. So, I try to keep them less in focus. I'm ready for comments, but I protect my family's privacy.

Who do you think is the best blogger among Rohini Dilaik, Rubina Dilaik, Rajat Sharma, and yourself?
Rohini! (laughs) Otherwise, she'll kill me! But honestly, everyone is doing great, even Abhinav has started blogging and I love his content too.

What are your future aspirations as a content creator?
I want to keep growing and motivating people. Rajat and I always dreamed of having a small cottage surrounded by a garden, and now we're working towards that dream.

What's your message for budding content creators?
Just start. Don't overthink. Be real and consistent, and keep in mind that even if it looks easy from the outside, it takes effort. But it's worth it if you stay true to yourself.
