For 28-year-old Monica D'Souza from Mumbai, the lockdown became a turning point. What began as a pause from her 9-to-5 routine turned into an opportunity to explore a passion that would soon become her purpose. From creating content during uncertain times to winning Miss Diva Content Creator 2025, Monica's journey is proof of consistency, courage, and self-belief. In this exclusive conversation with Whosthat360, she opens up about her journey, her content, and what success truly means to her.
You shifted paths during lockdown. What finally pushed you to start?
If I'm completely honest, during the lockdown, I had a small salary cut, but I also had a lot of time on my hands. Instead of letting that time go to waste, I decided to use it productively and make up for the deducted salary. What started as a necessity slowly turned into a passion and eventually became my purpose.
Coming from a 9–to–5, what was the hardest mindset shift when you entered content creation?
Coming from a 9–to–5 background, the hardest mindset shift was learning to trust myself and adapt to a life of freedom. Moving from a structured routine to a space that demands self-discipline, consistency, and creative confidence took time. I had to stop seeking external validation and start believing in my own ideas and instincts.
How do you personally define “success” today, compared to a few years ago?
For me, success today is about freedom and the liberty of time, the ability to choose where I want to be and what I want to do. I don't want to work just for a brand; I want to work on my terms & values, giving my best to everything I do. It's about investing in myself, taking care of my loved ones to the fullest, and living life without constantly overthinking and giving myself everything best. To me, that's true growth and success.
Your content is all about beauty, fashion, and everyday life. What makes something authentic for you?
For me, authenticity comes from honesty and relatability. It's not just about trends or aesthetics, it's about sharing what I genuinely feel, what resonates with me, and what reflects my real life. When my content shows my personality, values, and everyday experiences without trying to impress or copy, that's when it truly feels authentic.
What kept you going when growth felt slow or uncertain?
What kept me going was having no backup plan. There was nothing to fall back on, so my only option was to move forward. That pushed me to stay committed, work harder, and keep going even when growth felt slow or uncertain.
One thing you'll always create content about?
One thing I'll always create content about is stories that inspire and connect, whether it's beauty, fashion, lifestyle, or everyday moments. I love sharing content that feels real, relatable, and adds value to people's lives.
A fear you had to outgrow to be here today?
A fear I had to outgrow was the fear of failure and judgment. Stepping into content creation meant putting myself out there for the world to see, and that was intimidating. I had to learn to trust myself, embrace mistakes as part of growth, and stop letting the fear of what others think hold me back.
What would you tell someone who feels stuck but is scared to begin again?
The best time to start is today. Waiting for the “perfect version” of yourself or the “perfect time” only delays growth; tomorrow never comes. Start now, with whatever resources you have, however you can, and be consistent with whatever you do. Investing in yourself today is the best way to shape a better tomorrow. It's always the low-effort reels/ content that surprise you.
