She began her social media journey on social media platforms such as Instagram and gained popularity while posting about her lifestyle, captivating pictures, modelling content, and short videos. Gradually, her content caught the eye of the viewers and made her one of the prominent figures on the platform. This year, she walked the Bombay fashion week as it was her childhood dream to showcase her skin condition, vitiligo, proudly.
In an exclusive conversation with India.com, she opened up about her experience after being diagnosed with the disease. She was just eight years old when her family visited the doctor about the condition. 'Back then, it was a nightmare for me and my family, but now it's the face of my confidence,' she remarked.
Remembering her past experience, she shared her childhood memories. 'I can still remember the white spot that developed when I fell while playing. When we went to the doctor, he just offered us creams to use. Dad believed there was more to this, so he went home and Googled it, where we discovered it to be vitiligo. The next day, we stormed into the doctor's cabin and demanded to know why he hadn't identified the condition as vitiligo', she said. He just stated, 'I understand how parents respond when their child gets vitiligo'
Aastha's way of dealing with Biases:
According to Aastha, vitiligo is a skin ailment that only affects the external body. She said, 'Since it's visible to the public eye, people tend to stare at us and pass disrespectful comments. This can take a bad toll on our mental health. Dealing with it is not easy, but if you start loving yourself and accepting yourself the way you are, you can get through anything. Also, a little support from family and close friends can always make you feel better.'
