  • Why Dubai’s hustle can be tougher than India

Finance influencer Sarthak Ahuja recently pointed out something interesting. He says a lot of people in India think life will be easier if they move to Dubai or the UAE. They believe there's less competition, fewer politics, and a better work life balance. But in reality? It's quite the opposite.

The Truth About Working Hours

Dubai actually has one of the longest work weeks among developed economies. Ahuja compared it this way: people in France work about 30 hours a week, in the US 36 hours, China around 45, India roughly 46, and UAE more than 48 hours. So, if you're hoping to escape India's hustle, Dubai might be even tougher.

Why Dubai Feels So Competitive

The city attracts ambitious people from all over the world. Many leave their families behind just to earn and send money home. That means most people there are laser-focused on work, which naturally makes the environment more competitive. Compared to that, Ahuja says India can actually feel easier.

Moving Abroad for the Right Reasons

He also warns about countries like the US or France. Yes, they may offer shorter work hours, but the cost of living is so high that both partners often have to work. True work life balance? It's mostly found in Scandinavian countries like Denmark or Norway, or maybe Australia, but opportunities there are limited.

The Bottom Line

If you're planning to move abroad, do it for the right reasons — growth, exposure, or lifestyle not just to “chill.” Otherwise, you might end up more stressed than before.
