  • A real experience you can learn from

Twinkle Jain recently shared how he lost 108,000 on his visit to Europe due to avoidable errors. As she went to Europe several times lately without worry, this time did not happen according to the plan. In her own words, her decency and absence of planning made the journey costlier than it should have been.

Europe Travel Mistakes to Avoid

Visa Rejected – Flight Ticket Loss

One of the biggest Europe trip blunders she committed was reserving original flight tickets in advance without obtaining her visa. Since she had made several visits to Europe in the past, she expected her visa to be approved. Her visa application was rejected, and she lost ₹17,000 on non-refundable tickets. Her tip: wait for your visa before making flights or hotel bookings. Instead, opt for dummy bookings or those that offer a refund.

Unnecessary At-Home Visa Service

Twinkle paid an additional ₹7,000 for an at-home visa biometric service. She felt it would be a premium and hassle-free experience. Subsequently, she found that it was not required—Schengen visa regulations permit you to waive fingerprints for five years if you have already provided them once before. This additional cost could have been escaped with greater knowledge.

Extra Charges by Low-Cost Airlines

While traveling from Spain to Italy, she traveled with Wizz Air, which is a low-cost airline. She purchased 36 kg of extra baggage in advance, assuming it covered both her suitcases. But she didn't know that the airline allows 36 kg per bag, not for the total. She warns passengers to check airline baggage rules carefully.

Twinkle's experience is a wake-up call that even experienced travelers can make expensive errors. Avoid these Europe travel mistakes by being careful, reading the fine print, and never assuming things will go as they always have.
