  • Shweta calls out abusive remarks against women online
  • Reveals trolls often target her children too
  • Urges people to "Respect women, period"

Shweta Tiwari has spoken candidly about the growing culture of online trolling and abusive comments directed at women on social media. Currently receiving praise for her appearance on 'The Traitors 2', Shweta used a recent Instagram Live session with Parul Gulati to address the disturbing language often used against women online and questioned why such behaviour has become normalized.

The television star's powerful remarks have struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised her for speaking out against cyberbullying and online harassment.

Shweta Slams Online Trolls:

During her conversation with Parul Gulati, Shweta revealed that she was reading comments posted during the live session when she came across several offensive remarks targeting women. She said, “I was watching the comments, and I saw so many people casually calling us ‘ra*di.' I genuinely don't understand how this has become normal.”

Expressing her concern, Shweta questioned why derogatory language is so casually used on social media and why many internet users seem comfortable making such remarks publicly.

When Children Get Dragged In:

Shweta further revealed that the abuse is not always limited to her. According to her, trolls often drag her children into the conversation as well. She shared, “Sometimes, people even talk about me and my eight year old son and my daughter in very very disturbing way.”

The actress noted that such comments are deeply upsetting and highlighted how online abuse can affect not just public figures but also their families.

The Irony She Can't Ignore:

One of the points that particularly frustrates Shweta is the hypocrisy she often notices when checking the profiles of people posting abusive comments. She said, “And when I open their profiles, I see pictures of their wives, daughters and families. They clearly have women in their lives whose dignity they would never tolerate someone else attacking.”

Shweta questioned why some people believe it is acceptable to insult women they do not know personally simply because they are public figures or because they disagree with them. She added, “So what makes it acceptable to disrespect another woman who has absolutely nothing to do with you?”

More Than Just A Celebrity:

Shweta emphasized that a woman's dignity should not depend on familiarity, popularity or personal opinions. She said, “Because a woman doesn't lose her dignity just because you don't know her.”

Calling for greater respect and accountability online, she added, “And she certainly doesn't deserve to be called this word simply because you disagree with her, dislike her, or feel entitled to abuse her.”

A Message For Everyone:

Shweta ended the discussion by urging people to respect all women, regardless of their relationship with them. She said, “Respect women, not only the women you love, but women. Period.”

Her remarks have resonated widely on social media, with many users applauding her for addressing the harsh realities of online trolling and standing up for women's dignity while using her platform to promote empathy and respect.*
