Kushal Tandon's Sister Defends Him Amid Gauahar Khan Controversy; Calls Viral Remark "A Simple Joke"

Kushal Tandon has been facing criticism on social media after a comment he made about his former girlfriend Gauahar Khan during the reality show 'Alliance' went viral. Addressing the backlash in an interview with Pinkvilla, Tina Tandon said that the situation had been unnecessarily exaggerated by people online.

Speaking in Hindi, she said, “I'm sorry, but on social media, things get blown way out of proportion. It's like there's just a tiny spark from a matchstick somewhere, and people are determined to turn it into a full-blown fire unnecessarily. Because it's about Kushal... Kushal is everywhere, so everyone jumps in thinking they'll gain fame from it. They want TRPs and publicity through it.”

According to Tina, the attention surrounding the incident has more to do with Kushal's popularity than the actual nature of the comment itself.

Calls It A Simple Joke:

Tina further revealed that she has known Gauahar Khan for several years and holds her in high regard. She questioned why Gauahar's name was repeatedly being used to create headlines around the issue.

“I don't understand why people keep quoting one person. Gauahar is a beautiful woman; she's adorable, and I've known her for many years. Tagging someone's name for no reason is pointless. It's only done to fuel stories. They took a simple joke and blew it out of proportion. We don't know what really happened behind the scenes or what was said in a fun, light-hearted moment,” she added.

The controversy stemmed from a conversation between Kushal and Zaid on 'Alliance', where Kushal remarked, “Tujhe meri cheezein pasand aati hain (You like my things),” while referring to Gauahar Khan. The comment quickly went viral, with many social media users finding it inappropriate.

Several viewers also questioned Zaid's reaction during the exchange, as he chose to laugh instead of addressing the situation immediately.

Zaid Later Apologised:

Following the criticism, Zaid Darbar issued an apology to Gauahar Khan through a video. Gauahar responded by supporting her husband and advising him to be more careful while participating in the game.

For the unversed, Gauahar Khan and Kushal Tandon began dating after meeting on 'Bigg Boss 7' in 2013. The couple parted ways in 2014. Gauahar later married Zaid Darbar in 2020, and the couple are now parents to two sons, Zehaan and Farwaan.
