Highlights
  • Startups can get up to ₹30,000 monthly support
  • Seed funding of up to ₹50 lakh available
  • Women entrepreneurs can claim 75% rent reimbursement

For most startups, the toughest challenge is not launching an idea but surviving the first few years. Founders often struggle with cash flow, office expenses, funding, and operational costs while trying to build a sustainable business. Addressing these concerns, Gujarat's Industrial Policy 2026 has introduced a series of incentives aimed at supporting entrepreneurs from the ground up.

CA Sarthak Ahuja recently highlighted some of the key benefits available under the policy, calling it one of the most ambitious efforts to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.

Support: Monthly Allowance For Early-Stage Startups

One of the standout features of the policy is the sustenance allowance available to startups during their initial phase.

Eligible startups can receive ₹25,000 per month during the first year. Startups with a woman co-founder can receive an increased allowance of ₹30,000 per month. For technology-focused ventures, this support may be extended for up to two years, providing founders with much-needed financial breathing room while building their businesses.

For many first-time entrepreneurs, this assistance could help cover essential expenses and reduce pressure during the early stages of growth.

Funding: Seed Capital of Up to ₹50 Lakh

Access to capital is often one of the biggest hurdles for startups. To address this, the policy offers seed funding support of up to ₹30 lakh.

The support increases further for startups creating a positive social impact, which can receive an additional ₹10 lakh. Another ₹10 lakh is available for startups operating in the technology sector.

This brings the total potential seed support to ₹50 lakh, giving promising ventures greater resources to scale their ideas.

Incentives: Special Benefits For Women Entrepreneurs

The policy also places a strong emphasis on encouraging women-led businesses.

Women entrepreneurs can receive reimbursement of up to 75% of monthly rental expenses, subject to a maximum limit of ₹3 lakh annually. This benefit can be availed for up to five years, significantly lowering operational costs during the formative years of a business.

Additionally, women entrepreneurs are eligible for an extra 1% interest subsidy on term loans.

Growth: Additional Benefits Beyond Funding

The incentives extend beyond direct financial support. Entrepreneurs can receive assistance of up to ₹5 lakh for joining acceleration programmes and ₹1 lakh towards soft skills development.

To encourage innovation and research, the policy also offers substantial support for research and development activities. Businesses setting up research units can benefit from capital expenditure subsidies of up to 50% and partial reimbursement of land costs, subject to applicable conditions and thresholds.

Outlook: A Major Boost For Gujarat's Startup Ecosystem

To streamline access to these benefits, the government plans to establish the Gujarat Startup Cell under the Industries Commissioner's Office. Acting as a single-window system, the cell will help startups navigate various schemes and incentives.

With monthly allowances, rent support, seed funding and research incentives all forming part of the package, Gujarat's Industrial Policy 2026 could provide a significant boost to entrepreneurs looking to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.
