Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as Rebel Kid, has opened up about relocating to New York and the reasons behind her decision. Speaking candidly about life after the controversy surrounding 'India's Got Latent', Apoorva revealed that she has moved out of India to pursue higher studies and experience a completely different phase of life.
In a recent podcast with Amin Jaz, the influencer discussed everything from being cancelled online to stepping away from her comfort zone and embracing student life once again.
Chasing The New York Dream:
Apoorva shared that New York has long been one of her dream cities. Having travelled extensively, she revealed that the city instantly felt like a place she could call home.
Speaking about her decision, she said, "I have already moved to New York. I have travelled quite a lot, and when I landed in New York, I was like I really want to live here. There's something about this city; it's so fast, everyone is so well-dressed, the food is great, and I love the architecture. I have seen New York in every single web series that I love, and so I always wanted to live there. So I applied to only one college in New York, and now I got in."
She later confirmed the move on Instagram Stories, writing, "So I don't live in India anymore."
When Fame Starts Feeling Exhausting:
The creator also opened up about the pressures that come with online fame and public scrutiny. Reflecting on the aftermath of the 'India's Got Latent' controversy, Apoorva admitted that she is tired of the constant cycle of facing backlash and rebuilding her image.
According to her, even being cancelled for a short period can affect brand collaborations and income. She acknowledged that the financial impact is one of the most challenging aspects of working as a creator.
Back To Books, Dorm Rooms And College Life:
While moving abroad has been a dream for years, Apoorva confessed that it is also a scary transition. She pointed out that her friends, career and familiar life are all based in India.
The content creator revealed that she will be pursuing an MBA in New York and living in a dorm, marking a return to student life after years of creating content full-time.

Beyond The Creator Bubble:
Apoorva explained that one reason for choosing college was the opportunity to build friendships outside the influencer community. She hopes to meet people from different backgrounds and experience life beyond social media.
For her, the move represents more than education. It is also an opportunity to gain a fresh perspective and expand her social circle.
The End Of The ‘Kaleshi Aurat' Era:
During the conversation, Apoorva also reflected on the evolution of her online persona. She said that the "kaleshi aurat" is dead now and admitted that while she understands what kind of content performs well online, she no longer wants to feel pressured to constantly create.
The influencer shared that while in New York, she plans to make content only when she genuinely feels like it. She also hinted that fans may see fewer of her popular storytime videos going forward.
A Fresh Chapter Ahead:
Apoorva's move comes more than a year after the controversy surrounding 'India's Got Latent', which drew widespread criticism and led to legal complaints against several individuals associated with the show. Now, with New York as her new home, she appears focused on education, personal growth and building a life beyond the controversies that once dominated headlines.
