Fast grocery delivery apps such as Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto have made it easier by delivering everyday products to our doorstep in just minutes. But are we paying extra than we assume? Manav Narang, an expert in finance, explains why he quit using the apps and how you can also save money.

Prices Are Higher on iPhones

Manav noticed that prices on fast grocery delivery apps are often 7–10% higher on iPhones than on Android phones. This happens because the Apple App Store charges higher commissions and fees, which are passed on to iPhone users. So, just by using an iPhone, you might be paying more for the same items.

Apps Give Discounts If You Don't Use Them

Another smart trick Manav shared is that if you stop using these apps for a few days, they often give you ₹100–₹150 in free cash or discounts to bring you back. This works with almost every app.

Add to Cart and Wait for Offers

You can also add items to your cart and wait. Many times, the app will give you a discount offer just to make you complete the purchase. This is an easy way to save without doing much.

Big Basket is Usually Cheaper

Manav found that Big Basket usually has lower prices compared to fast delivery apps. It may not be as quick, but it's more budget-friendly.

Beware of Hidden Charges

After getting your trust, these apps charge you in different ways—such as platform fees, surge charges, and handling fees. So check all the apps first before purchasing and go for the lowest one.
